Windows Phone 7 Mango Bing Vision, Audio and Turn by turn navigation features officially confirmed Description
A Windows Phone developer podcast hosted by Ryan and Travis Lowdermilk have some new good news for Windows Phone developers, and ultimately users. According to the two, Mango will include two new Bing features—Bing Audio and Bing Video—as well as SMS Dictation (spoken text messages), on-device podcast support, and turn-by-turn navigation. Bing Vision, which is already available in the Bing iOS application will let users scan bar-codes, QR Codes, Microsoft Tags, DVD, Movies covers/posters, book covers etc and match them with corresponding information through Bing (essentially the same as Google goggles)
The said Bing audio feature would work the same as the Shazam service, being integrated directly into the Bing search window. The guys over at WMPoweruser explain in a recent post that the music search feature would work similarly with Shazam, enabling users record a snippet of a song they are listening to, so that they can search for a match. Last but not least, Voice Dictation appears to be used while composing a text message (we hope users will be able to use that more widely, like composing an E-Mail, updating a status, sending a tweet, etc.). According to the image below, if you tap on the speak button you’ll be able to dictate the message and, with the voice recognition feature of Windows Phone, your words would be laid down on the screen for you to tap Send.
